Here is a little healthy treat for all to start and end this beautiful week. I call this simple spinach smoothie my energiser. This spinach smoothie gives you energy, help you lose weight and keeps you healthy. You can still have your fruit a day alongside this high in fibre smoothie.
I substitute my breakfast with smoothie sometimes, this simple spinach smoothie is no exception and it is always filling. This is the easiest thing you can whip up in the kitchen. Your gut will be grateful and thankful for nourishing it with this easily digested beauty. (Not minding the colour). I said this as not many people are a fan of green smoothie.
I make sure I drink a smoothie at least once a week, it is not always easy but I try. My daughter is beginning to love smoothie and I am making a conscious effort to add it to her diet as well. It’s important to know that not all smoothies are healthy, a smoothie full of sugar, milk, cream and the likes are more of a treat than a healthy drink. If you would be making a smoothie or adding it to your diet, ensure it is healthy and yet delicious.
This spinach smoothie recipe can be named smoothie 101, it is one of the basic detox smoothie recipes you can start with if you are new to making a smoothie. once you are comfortable with the taste and texture, you can move on to trying other vegetables as you please. Smoothie is not scary to drink, it does take getting used to but once you get used to it, there would be no going back.
Ingredients in my smoothie
3 cups spinach (substitute with kale or any other edible green leaves)
Half an orange or ⅓ cup orange juice
1-2 cubed size ginger
Half a banana
2-3 tbsp natural yoghurt (optional, substitute with water)
Ice cubes (optional)
How to make a simple spinach smoothie
Process all ingredients in the blender until smooth and serve immediately.
Note: if the smoothie is too thick, add a bit of water to aid blending to your desired consistency. Enjoy. x
