If you’d guessed salad was going to be my next post then you are so right. I just couldn’t afford to let the remaining vegetables used for the chicken shawarma go to waste – food recycling. I had to put it to good use. It is difficult to get Africans to eat salad but thanks to the ‘get fit’ obsession going around.
Who said you can never get an African man to the kitchen? Well that means you don’t starve them enough because if you do then, they would know their into the kitchen. Ooook don’t eat me yet, I’m only joking and yes, never ever starve your man. At home I do 85% of the cooking and I’m always grateful to hubby
So I finally cooked coconut fried rice for the blog. About time hey! Making coconut fried rice is very easy but if care is not taken, you can easily overpower the delicate flavour of the coconut like I mentioned in my previous coconut rice post. Anytime I cook coconut fried rice, I make sure I go easy on the amount of curry I use
I loooove chicken, feed me with chicken for days and I would be home and dry but please make sure the chicken is moist and spicy. Ain’t nobody got time for bland or dry chicken. My best part of a chicken is the leg and I must be able to crack the bones too. There is a supermarket around here and each time I go to buy my groceries
Happy hump day my lovelies, how is the week going? Today, I’m sharing with you one of my not-so-secret recipes called bread and fish roll, yes you read that right. The days I’m too lazy to make my own pastry for fish roll or any other filling, I just use sliced bread. Bread roll is quick, easy, healthy and kids-friendly.
Weekends, well if you are not at work means relaxation and fun. It is the time for parties, running errands you couldn’t get to do during the week and most importantly, spending quality time with the family. Plantain chips also known as ipekere is one tasty snack to help relax on a hot/cold afternoon with some chilled drinks.
Summer is here, yaay! To everyone that have worked on their summer body till date, I say well done to you all and to some of us that have managed not to keep food out of our mouths, I say more power to our elbows. Lol
I recently fell in love with Uziza leaf and our love has kept blossoming in my kitchen. It is early days but I think you can guess by now that I added uziza leaves to this efo riro. Well I did, and I have no regrets. Efo riro is for us the yorubas and as a proud Yoruba gal I am allowed to brag and I can tell you, I know how to cook delicious efo riro.
One of the many snacks a Nigerian wouldn’t say no to, is sausage roll. It is a tasty snack and very easy to make too. I was at home last weekend and I had plans to make some sausage rolls for a friend but after I baked these little devils, I tasted one and I was hooked. I changed my mind instantly. I know it is bad and selfish of me but lord knows you would do the same.
One of the many treats I looked forward to whilst growing up, was coconut candy without the nuts. I remember going to the stall of this woman and her children who sold the candy in wholesale, I usually go with my friends and we would get discounts and crumbs because we were young high school students.
